“Eating is an agricultural act.” –Wendell Berry
Every month since January 2009, Friends of Family Farmers has organized and hosted InFARMation, an educational event that brings eaters and farmers together talk about the most pressing issues facing Oregon’s family farms and sustainable local food systems.
Currently, InFARMation takes place the last Tuesday of every month at the Holocene in Portland (1001 SE Morrison St.) from 5:30 – 8:30 pm. Throughout 2016, in addition to Portland, we also organized InFARMation in communities across the state including Salem, Bend, McMinnville, Eugene and Grants Pass. Stay tuned for additional 2017 InFARMation locations.
Through InFARMation, Friends of Family Farmers brings the issues that Oregon family farmers face onto the radar of urban consumers and the broader community. Changing each month, the topics always aim to inspire engagement in our food system, and to illuminate the connection between food consumers and sustainable, family-scale agriculture. We firmly believe that both eaters and farmers have a stake in the food system, and when eaters connect directly with farmers, it makes our local and regional food systems stronger and makes real change possible.
