iFarm Help – Frequently Asked Questions
If you do not see the answer to your question, please email Michele at ifarm@friendsoffamilyfarmers.org or call the FoFF office at 503.759.3276.
Q: How do I get listed in your database?
To get listed in our database, you’ll first want to decide which category you fall into. If you have land for sale or lease and would like to find a farmer, visit our Landowners page for the proper questionnaire. Fill it out and send it back to us, and we’ll contact you for the next steps.
If you provide services for farmers, whether they are financial, legal, educational, etc., visit the Agricultural Educators and Service Providers page for those questionnaires.
If you want to find land, or would like to post about looking for internship opportunities, visit our Landseekers page.
If you find that you do not fit into any of these categories exactly, just email us and we can take it from there.
Q: I’m interested in one of the listings, how do I contact this person?
All of our listings are anonymous online to protect our listers’ privacy. To get started, you should email FoFF (ifarm@friendsoffamilyfarmers.org) and ask for a Land Holder or Land Seeker questionnaire. Once you are in our system (also anonymously), we can initiate contact between you and the other lister, and hopefully put you on the path to make a good match. If you are already in our database, just email your name and the URL of the listing you are interested in contacting to us (ifarm@friendsoffamilyfarmers.org), and we will get right on it.
Q: I know about some great farmer resources, but I’m not the one who offers them/teaches the classes…
If you have a suggestion about a listing but do not offer the service personally, or if you know of an event for our community calendar, please drop us a line!
Q: If I want to list my land, will my contact information be part of the listing?
We do not list your contact information publicly. Folks interested in your land will need to contact Friends of Family Farmers directly.
Q: Who qualifies to get listed in your database?
Friends of Family Farmers has outlined a specific set of criteria based on our organizational mission statement for those wishing to participate in the land connection service.
Q: What is the difference between View Listings and Advanced Search Options on the iFarm search page?
If you select View Listings, every listing in the category that you’ve checked will be displayed in the results for you to browse. If you would like to narrow that list, you can go to Advanced Search Options and search via key word, region, and/or features. If you search by features, any listing that has at least one of the features that you check will be displayed in the results.
Q: Why aren’t there more listings?
Friends of Family Farmers has just started poplulating this database, and would welcome any suggestions for services to list. If you know anyone who would benefit by being listed in iFarm Oregon, or would appreciate knowing that this hub of farmer resources exists, please help us by spreading the word!
