April’s InFARMation was great – thanks to Farmer Jon Bansen!
We had a large group show up to hear Jon Bansen of Double J Jersey Dairy Farm talk about his experiences switching over to running his dairy organically certified, and joining the farmer co-op Organic Valley.

Farmer Jon Bansen speaking to crowd at InFARMation
His slides of the farm and the questions from the crowd contributed to an interesting evening that flew by. Thanks to Sassafras Catering and Organic Valley for contributing some amazing cheeses, Jersulem Artichoke chutney(!) and breads to compliment the Roots beer, and even chocolate milk for dessert.
You should join us next month on May 12th for our next InFARMation (and Beer!) – always the second Tuesday of each month from 5:30-8:30pm. In May, we will focus on MEAT, and what it means to be an ethical meat eater in Oregon. What are the options for consumers who want to opt out of the factory farm food system, but still want options for eating meat? Learn more about the state processing issues that make it hard for Oregon family farmers to have their animals slaughtered or to sell individual cuts of meat rather than whole animals . There are a variety of ways that Oregonians can purchase their meat directly from a family farmer. Special guest farmers will be on hand to discuss!
