InFARMation (and Beer!) Feb 10th at Roots Brewery
Friends of Family Farmers presents InFARMation (and Beer!) #2 at Roots Organic Brewery in Portland, Tuesday February 10th from 5:30-8pm. This month’s discussion topic is Oregon’s Next Generation of Farmers, and FoFF’s Megan Fehrman will lead the discussion on what is going to happen when over 25% of our state’s farmland changes hands in the next ten years. New, beginning, and existing farmers will be there to share their stories, and anyone concerned about where their food comes from is encouraged to join us. Will this prime Oregon farmland be turned into condos, bought by corporate agriculture, or farmed sustainably by family farmers, and what do those options mean for our local food supply? Are you interested in pursuing farming, but are up against crazy land prices and lack of mentorship, among other barriers? Please join us, join the conversation, and pass the word! Let’s share information and understand the problem a bit better by the time the evening is over. This is a great opportunity to network with the community of Oregonians who want to have a say in determining what kind of food system we have while enjoying a great local beer. Roots’ pints are only $2.50 on Tuesdays, and the conversation is free!
Agenda:
5:30-6:30 – arrive, network, enjoy food and drinks
6:30-7:30 – conversation with Megan Fehrman and new farmers
7:30-until – more networking and discussion
